Quick Case Study Report:
Shattuck St. Mary’s school was in need of revamping their outdated 2D construction documents into a 3D model for design purposes on their planned expansion and turned to Laser Design for 3D terrestrial scanning and modeling.
Shattuck St. Mary’s is a coeducational Episcopal-affiliated boarding school in Faribault, Minnesota, built in 1901. The school is known for its Centers of Excellence programs in hockey, soccer, figure skating, golf, engineering, bioscience, vocal performance, and pre-conservatory music. Notable alumni include Sidney Crosby, Marlon Brando, Hubert H. Humphrey, Zach Parise and many more.
The Laser Design team captured both internal and external scans of the school and site areas adjacent to an area proposed for building. The 3D scan data taken was then used to create a precise as-built 3D Revit model for use in new architectural design development documents. The scan data was imported into Revit to produce super accurate 3D data that will allow the school to not only have up-to-date construction documents but also to help facilitate the new expansion by utilizing the latest in scan-to-BIM technology.
