Type of Part You Want Scanned

What do you want scanned? 3D laser scanning is ideal for non-contact, 3D scanning applications for: inspection, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping (STL), manufacturing directly from scan data and digital archiving of irreplaceable antiquities and fossils. We can scan a variety of parts including, but not limited to:
Buildings / Large Scale

Buildings / Large Scale

Large-scale, complex 3D laser scanning collects high-density geospatial data for entire buildings, factories, rooms, landscapes, and other big structures. The highly accurate 3D scan data can create CAD models of actual site conditions by processing the scan data into universally useable CAD models.

Castings

Castings

Castings of liquid metal poured into molds are very detailed and precise, making them hard to machine. After the mold is removed the parting line must be ground down to finish the part. Laser scanning can accurately measure all of the geometry of the part and the mold, no matter how intricate.

Forgings

Forgings

Pieces of metal ranging in size from less than a kilogram to hundreds of metric tons are shaped or “forged” using the compressive force from presses or powered hammers. Parts are processed further to arrive at the finished object.

Fossils and Artifacts

Fossils and Artifacts

Laser scanning excels at capturing complex, free-form geometry of the 3-dimensional organic shapes of fossils, artifacts, artwork, and other objects for reverse engineering or use in animation and other creative applications.

Machined Parts

Machined Parts

Machining parts yields tight dimensional accuracies and excellent repeatability. Almost all manufactured metal parts are machined. 3D laser scanning insures the precision of both the machined parts and machining tools.

Plastic Injection Molded

Plastic Injection Molded

Plastic injection molded parts and molds are detailed and complex. Laser inspection insures that parts maintain their dimensions and can determine when worn or damaged molds need repair.

Prototypes and Clay Models

Prototypes and Clay Models

Part prototypes are sometimes modeled in clay or another soft material such as wood, foam, plaster, or flexible plastics. Non-contact laser scanning allows these malleable objects to be scanned in a matter of minutes without compression which could change their dimensions or damage to their surfaces.

Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

Thin, flat sheet metal needs to be uniformly thick. In-line inspection with a laser scanner speeds the QA process.

Thermo Formed Parts / Blow Molded

Thermo Formed Parts / Blow Molded

Hollow plastic thermo-formed or blow-molded parts made of heated or melted plastic mold with compressed air are usually not very detailed and accuracies are less rigid. However, these fast, inexpensive parts can be easily laser scanned to insure consistency and quality.
