LASER DESIGN INTRODUCES MANUAL SCANNING SYSTEM

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Laser Design Inc. announced the immediate availability of its new DM-1620 manual scanning system.  The DM-1620 is the company’s first-ever manual scanning system.  It is built on a high-accuracy, manual CMM base with a 16” x 20” x 14” work envelope.  Laser Design feels that the combination of moderate price and high accuracy will make the DM-1620 a very attractive option for customers who are scanning a wide variety of small to medium-sized parts.

Marty Schuster, President of Laser Design, said, “For years, we have been the leader in offering motorized 3D scanning solutions.  Our research indicated that some applications are better suited for a manual system that is just as accurate but far simpler to operate and much less expensive.  We believe this new model fills an important gap in our product line and reaffirms that we have the industry’s broadest line of 3D scanning solutions.”

The DM-1620 is bundled with a choice of RPS laser sensors, Dynamic Scanning capability, Surveyor Scan Control, a super powerful PC, and data processing software.  Full CMM touch probe capability is offered as a low-cost option.  Additional software and other accessories such as a motorized rotary table are also available.

Since 1987, Laser Design Inc. has been the leading supplier of ultra-precise, laser scanning systems and services used for capturing the 3D shape of objects with complex shapes and free-form surfaces.   Laser Design’s Surveyor automated 4 and 5-axis scanning systems are ideal for 3D applications such as computer-aided verification, discrete dimensional measurements, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing from scan data.  The company’s patented laser line-probe technology dramatically reduces scanning time by collecting data substantially faster and more accurately than conventional metrology technologies.  The 16-year-old company also operates an in-house Service Bureau offering complete 3D scanning, modeling and inspection services.  For further information, contact Marty Schuster, by phone (952-884-9648, ext. 202), fax (952-884-9653) or via email to sales@laserdesign.com.
