Other new features include a powerful Autosave feature as well as
the ability to perform 3D rendering of the scanned data.
In rendered mode, the previous 4 scans may be viewed.
A new mode has also been added allowing the point cloud to be
panned and zoomed. The new
statistics mode allows planes to be highlighted and statistics calculated.
When this function is active, users can select areas to calculate
the Standard Deviation and
Distance between two
parallel surfaces. New
Scanner Controls such as the Gain
Control pane may be optionally used to adjust laser camera
brightness and the video picture brightness.

The
company feels the enhanced software provides major functionality
improvements.
According to Chris Rhodes, Laser Design’s Product Manager for the
PS-Series, “Our new scanning software makes it incredibly easy for
first-time users to become proficient at 3D scanning with very little
training.”
Since
1987, Laser Design Inc. has been the leading supplier of ultra-precise,
laser scanning systems and services used for capturing the 3D shape of
objects with complex shapes and free-form surfaces.
Laser Design’s Surveyor line of automated 4 and 5-axis scanning
systems are ideal for 3D applications such as computer-aided verification,
discrete dimensional measurements, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping,
and manufacturing from scan data.
The company’s patented laser line-probe technology dramatically
reduces scanning time by collecting data substantially faster and more
accurately than conventional metrology technologies.
The 16-year-old company also operates an in-house Service Bureau
offering complete 3D scanning, modeling and inspection services.
