LASER DESIGN INTRODUCES PORTABLE 3D LASER SCANNERS

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Laser Design Inc. announced announced the immediate availability of its PS-Series line of portable scanners.  The PS-Series consists of the PS-400 model with a 4” laser line, the PS-1100 with an 11” laser line, the PS-3300 with a 33” line, and the PS-3300C with a 33” line and color option.

Using a galvo design, the PS-Series laser beam is swept across a part resulting in quick 3D digitization of the part’s surface.  The system picks up 512 data points across the laser line.  Weighing just 4.5 lbs., the PS-Series is ideal for mobile scanning applications when combined with a laptop computer.  The system package includes 3D camera, tripod, scan capture software, data processing software, and optional carrying case.  The PC is not included.  The PS-series interfaces easily with any PC with a USB port running Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows 2000.

According to Marty Schuster, President of Laser Design, “These portable scanners are a great compliment to our CMM-based, highly-automated systems.  We can now offer customers a system with portability and a lower cost than ever before.”

Laser Design Inc. (LDI) is the leading manufacturer of ultra-precise, laser scanning solutions used for capturing the 3D shape of any object with a complex geometry.   When combined with post-processing software from its Solutions Partners, LDI’s Surveyor scanning systems are ideal for 3D applications such as computer aided verification, discrete dimensional measurements, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing.  The company’s patented laser line-sensor technology dramatically reduces scanning time by collecting data substantially faster and more accurately than is possible with conventional measuring technologies.  The 15-year-old company is also the worldwide leader in automated 4 and 5 axis scanning systems that minimize operator involvement.  For further information, contact Marty Schuster, at LDI by phone (952-884-9648, ext. 202), fax (952-884-9653), or by email to sales@laserdesign.com.
