The AM-3R system is specially designed for scanning / digitizing in-ear impressions (models) used for custom manufacturing of custom fit hearing aid shells using Rapid Prototyping technology.  The desktop AM-3R is used in combination with  Geomagic “eShell” software to output an STL (Stereolithography) file that allows automated production of the 3D physical models using Rapid Prototyping technology.  The AM-3R utilizes dual rotary stages to accurately rotate the ear impression for automated scanning.  The laser probe is mounted to another precision rotary stage enabling the laser beam to be swept over the ear impression.

The Auditory Modeler system incorporates Laser Design’s  RPS-450 laser probe, ideal for profile contour scanning. The RPS captures up to 14,400 points per second and features digital (ASCII) coordinate output, a visible beam, a Class II rating, and a long standoff designed to quickly and easily and accurately scan the ear model.  Its large measurement range, enhanced specularity performance, and automatic adjustments for surface color and finish ensure excellent results time after time.  Future models will use the SLP-450 rotary stage to further increase scanning speeds.
