MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Laser Design Inc., the leading manufacturer of 3D laser scanners and an
OEM reseller of Geomagic software, announced two significant
developments associated with the Geomagic Qualify inspection software. Geomagic
Qualify is used in conjunction with Laser Design’s 3D scanners for inspection
applications. The Qualify software performs point cloud to CAD model
comparisons and creates color coded, graphical error map reports.
Geomagic Review 7
Laser Design announced
that its OEM software partner, Geomagic, has released Geomagic
Review 7, a new inspection analysis and collaboration software that is
designed to add measurable business benefits to Geomagic Qualify
customers. Geomagic Review is now available for free downloading on
Geomagic’s website:
http://www.geomagic.com/en/products/qualify/review/index.php.
Geomagic Review enables
users to communicate and share results from Geomagic Qualify among
inspection, design, engineering, partners, contractors and other areas
within the enterprise. Inspection results and analysis generated by
Geomagic Qualify – including GD&T analysis, and 2D and 3D comparisons –
can be shared with Geomagic Review. Users can open an existing file and
manipulate views; select/delete points, curves and polygons; review
existing analyses; create new annotations and 2D dimensions; measure
distances; and create new reports.
Geomagic Review offers
three principal benefits for product manufacturers:
-
It allows graphical
information to be shared among engineers in different physical
locations, reducing the time it takes to fix a problem detected during
computer-aided inspection.
-
It provides
collaborative tools that improve communication between inspection and
design engineers, minimizing the number of design and process changes,
and resulting in faster product development and refinement.
-
It offers higher
return on investment by enabling all those who focus on quality to share
information at no additional cost.
Geomagic Capture
Included with Qualify at No Charge
Laser Design also
announced that Geomagic, has enacted a
significant change to Geomagic Qualify that will provide performance
improvements and cost savings for its customers. Effective immediately,
all customers ordering Geomagic Qualify with Laser Design's scanners will receive Geomagic Qualify plus
Geomagic Capture for the standard list price of $11,950. Previously,
customers had to order Geomagic Qualify Complete at the list price of $15,590,
in order to receive Geomagic Capture. Now, all customers will realize the benefits
of using the two software packages together. Geomagic Capture processes
3D scanner point cloud data to enable comparison and
analysis with Geomagic Qualify.
Customers ordering a Geomagic Studio and Geomagic Qualify
bundle will receive two copies of Geomagic Capture and File I/O that will
allow the packages to operate independently. All existing customers will
be upgraded to this new configuration with the next major release of
Geomagic Qualify.
About Geomagic and Laser Design
Geomagic is based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., and has wholly
owned subsidiaries in Europe and Asia. Geomagic software is used by
manufacturers to digitally reconstruct and inspect physical parts from 3D
scan data. More than 3,000 users worldwide turn to Geomagic to
provide the technology for customizing products, automating processes, and
increasing throughput.
Since 1987, Laser Design Inc. has been the leading supplier of
ultra-precise, 3D laser scanning systems and services used for capturing
the 3D shape of objects with complex geometries and free-form surfaces.
Laser Design’s Surveyor line of automated and portable scanning systems
are ideal for 3D applications such as computer-aided verification,
discrete dimensional measurements, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping,
and manufacturing from scan data. The company’s patented laser line-probe
technology dramatically reduces scanning time by collecting data
substantially faster and more accurately than conventional metrology
technologies. The company also operates an in-house Service Bureau
offering complete 3D scanning, modeling and inspection services. For
